Policies and Identity Standards

Policies and Identity Standards Governing Communications

UE Comm is responsible for ensuring that all UE publications, both digital and print, are in compliance with UC Davis policy as well as brand and identity standards. Everything UE Comm design and produce is developed to be in conformity with these standards. Units designing their own materials are expected to submit those materials for review prior to publication.

UC Davis Policies and Procedures

All university policies are listed in the Policies and Procedures Manual (PPM). Policies governing communications are found in Chapter 310. Relevant sections are linked here; highighted sections identify those most relevant to UE Comm.

UC Davis Branding and Identity Standards

UC Davis branding and identity standards govern a broad range of communications issues including but not limited to appearance (font; colors; logos and signatures; photographic style) and messaging.  These standards are set by Strategic Communications. All standards, along with resources to help staff  implement them, can be found on the UC Davis Marketing Toolbox.

UE Identity Standards

As an administrative unit within UC Davis, UE maintains an identity tied to our mission.

  • Brand family identity: UE Comm has worked with Strategic Communications to develop a brand family for UE unit signatures. Within the campus guidelines for Unit Signatures, we have established the following:

    • Unit signatures  include “Office of Undergraduate Education” as the parent organization on the third level

      • This should always appear unless the signature is used on a scale small enough that the words become unintelligible.

    • In addition to the primary blue and gold required for all campus signatures and logos, UE signatures incorporate a single additional color from the official secondary color pallette (see Marketing Toolbox).
